How to use YAML to JSON
- Add your YAML data. Paste text or select a file from your device.
- Choose your options. Review the settings and select Convert.
- Save your result. Preview, copy, or download the output.
Know your output.
JSON integers outside the safe JavaScript range are rejected to avoid silent rounding. Quote large IDs before converting. YAML aliases and custom tags are not supported.
Conversion happens locally. Refreshing or closing this tab clears the workspace; downloaded files remain on your device.
YAML to JSON: conversion behavior
Convert YAML mappings, sequences and scalar values into JSON locally. Duplicate keys, aliases, unsupported tags and non-finite numeric values are rejected.
Use it to move a simple YAML configuration into a JSON workflow. Review types because YAML syntax can imply a value type.
- Use a single YAML document. Multiple documents are not combined.
- Quote strings that must keep leading zeros. Unquoted YAML numbers are parsed as numbers.
- Aliases and custom tags are unsupported; duplicate mapping keys are rejected.
- Large integers must be quoted. Infinity and NaN cannot be represented as JSON numbers.
Questions about YAML to JSON
Why is my YAML alias rejected?
This tool does not expand aliases. Replace each alias with its intended value first.
Are comments preserved?
No. JSON has no comment syntax, so YAML comments and formatting are omitted.
